'This collection is a playful exploration in texture. The many layers of translucent colors cut into each other with crisp edges, inspired by traditional folk floral motifs. You can see the flow of the paint and the brush strokes, evoking movement within contained shapes. The namesake of these paintings, Kathleen, was the inspiration behind the color palette. I’ve had the privilege of working for many years under her guidance and have grown to love her favorite color: a punchy orchid purple. The aqua and forest green hold their own against the vibrant orchid, creating a balance among each leaf and petal form. This series captures the joy I’ve had learning and growing from one of the people I admire most."
