Southern Offering

Ceramic measuring 10 inches

Southern summers are remembered through what is shared. A plate of sliced heirloom tomatoes, a road-side bag of boiled peanuts, cornbread still warm from the oven, or deviled eggs carried to a family gathering become small offerings of care, hospitality, and belonging. These everyday foods mark the season as much as the heat, the cicadas, and the long evenings spent gathered around a table.

In Southern Offering, I preserve these familiar rituals in clay, transforming fleeting meals into lasting keepsakes. Each sculpture celebrates the quiet beauty of Southern staples: tomato sandwiches, pimento cheese, Lowcountry boils, pickled okra, and garden harvests. Honoring the recipes, gardens, and traditions passed between generations.

Rather than documenting meals themselves, these works celebrate the memories they hold. They invite viewers to reflect on the people, places, and traditions that shape our understanding of home. Through humor, nostalgia, and careful craftsmanship, this collection offers a love letter to Southern summers and the simple acts of gathering, sharing, and caring for one another
